In which I talk about Glee.

I've mentioned recently, elsewhere, that I love Glee, and I do. I just wish I could love it more.

So, flist, here are my not very well organized or articulated thoughts on why Glee is a total tease; that is, it brings me right to the edge of euphoria then leaves me hanging. I don't even get put away, to allude.

I'll preface this by saying that the internets have, over time, taught me a valuable lesson. The lesson is this - I often think people are dead wrong in their opinions/thoughts about certain shows and their like/dislike of a particular character. This is because I have inherent reasons for liking particular characters or storylines and a certain take on what I think is quality entertainment versus absolute dreck, and - it still shocks me - not all of the rest of the world is in line with those reasons/takes. People sometimes actually squee and squee about things I think are absolutely atrocious, and while I know in my heart of hearts that I'm always right about these kinds of things, the admittedly slim possibility exists that they likely feel the same way about me (only in reverse) and, here's the kicker, feel justified in doing so.

Anyway, enough of this strange phenomenon. Onward.

Okay, you remember how I posted about my insane 'I want to ship them' love for Rachel and Quinn? And there was the adorable picture of them all snuggled up and smiley?

Well, thanks to you, anonymous person who enabled this, I was directed to the clip below, where they (okay, I'm confusing reality and fiction again - I mean Lea and Dianna, who play Rachel and Quinn) look at one another as if they are announcing their engagement and/or they want to lick ice cream from assorted places on each other's bodies. It's the gayest, loveliest thing I've seen since Bleighton, and I thank them (and the anonymous enabler) for giving me such a giddy-making event.

Absolutely.

Hilarious?

Oh, fuck yes. 43 pages of funny (to date), and almost all of them are worth it. Seriously. I looked at all 43.

So, dear flist, I won't draw out the suspense any longer. May I present: http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/

(The strangest thing I've ever seen at Wal-Mart would be the two guys dressed up like Ace and Gary. What about you?)

Aside from the fact that it's awesome, here's a reason why you should watch Supernatural (only start at the beginning or you'll really be lost).

They play with fandom.

Study: Abstinence-Only Lunch Programs Ineffective At Combating Teen Obesity

July 27, 2009 | Issue 45•31

WASHINGTON—According to the findings of a recent Department of Health and Human Services study, school lunch programs that teach children to avoid all contact with food may not be an effective method of reducing teen obesity rates.

A/N: This is just what it’s called – a superfluous sex scene from a larger story I was writing (which was not, as expected, lost in the great computer fail, though that doesn’t mean the larger story will ever actually be finished). It doesn’t fit with that story; the tone is all wrong. So, it’s been excised, but I don’t think that means it has to be discarded completely. Expect no more than what’s been promised (i.e., sex).
ETA: The JJ depicted in this fic follows up on the JJ from my other CM fic 'Predilections'.

Good for you, National Health Service of Britain. Also, hilarious. Also, brilliant.

"Orgasm A Day" Campaign Directed At British Schoolchildren Sparks Controversy

The National Health Service of Britain has sparked controversy with their controversial sex education campaign promoting an orgasm a day. A National Health Service leaflet is advising school pupils that they have a "right" to an enjoyable sex life and that regular intercourse can be good for their cardiovascular health...

...Alongside the slogan "an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away", it says: "Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes' physical activity three times a week. What about sex or masturbation twice a week?"

28 days later

First off, thanks to allaine77 for inviting me to come on his show. He's lovely and very nice, and put up with my nervousness over revealing myself to be a dumbass to a broader listening public.

That said, you can listen to our conversation here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/allaine

Feel free to mock me or anything about me (my voice, tics in my speech patterns, my obvious misunderstanding of the pathos of various characters). You can even do it to my face in the comments. I think it would be great fun, actually. :)

28 end is fucking nigh

So, you know allaine77, right (old school link to her lj: http://allaine77.livejournal.com/)... Aside from writing a mean Harley/Ivy, he has an internet radio show and has recently started doing interviews with various fanfic authors, and I'm next. This Thursday (07/09) at 10 pm EST, you can listen at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/allaine should you so choose.

I've tried to warn him that I'm a complete idiot and not particularly insightful. Now I'll warn you of the same things.

Also, I don't know if he's taking questions, but if you've ever had the desire to ask me something, leave a comment. If I don't answer it during the interview, I'll answer it here.

Edited to correct my misapprehensions, because clearly I'm a bit slow and also something of a twat.

RIP dearest computer

My computer died. I feel like I should mark its passing, especially as it took quite a lot of things with it. (I am not so good at backing things up on a regular basis, which now makes me quite sad.) So, it's clean slate time, I think, as anything I was working on is now lost to me. Luckily there were only two major things. The rest were small fry.

It will be a fresh start.

Also, maybe I'll come begging to you, f-list, to help me replace some of the music I lost.
